In February 2002 Tal Systems, Inc. of Racine WI announced the availability of its TSFA997 package, affordable Windows
¨ desktop software to provide end-users a simple method to review information supplied by their EDI trading partners in ANSI ASC X12 '997 Functional Acknowledgment documents. Support for TA1 Interchange Acknowledgment segments was added in version 1.1 (June 2002).

In March 2003 version 1.2 of the software was released, featuring graphical print formats and a "What You See is What You Get" print preview.

Features and Benefits:

  • No partner setup required
  • Literal explanations of all code values.
  • Works transparently with ANSI version 3 and 4 versions of the 997.
  • Information is reported to the detail level supplied by the originator of the 997: functional group, transaction set, segment and/or data element level.
  • No preprocessing of input files is required: the software extracts TA1 Interchange Acknowledgment segments and 997 Functional Acknowledgment documents from any file regardless of other data in the file (other documents or communications headers/trailers) or format (wrapped/unwrapped/blocked).
  • Reports may be viewed on-line, printed or saved to a file.
  • Integrated report explanation and Introduction to the TA1 segment and 997 Document.
  • Most-recently used files list
  • Evaluation version makes it possible to "try before you buy".
  • Very inexpensive license fee.
  • Uses the proven Tal Systems, Inc. scanning technology in use at over 2000 user sites.

"The TA1 interchange acknowledgment segment and 997 Functional Acknowledgment document can be confusing to entry-level EDI users," says TSFA997 designer/developer Michael Mattias. "The purpose of these documents is often misunderstood."

Mattias goes on, "While the entry-level user is often interested only in an "accept/reject" status, EDI professionals responsible for troubleshooting rejected documents will appreciate the inclusion of syntax error explanations and segment/element detail, as it makes locating errors possible without additional mapping or software development."

Single-user licenses are only $25.00; discounts apply for multiple-license purchases. An evaluation version can be downloaded by clicking the link above.

The TSFA997 software runs on all Windows 9x/2000/NT/XP systems.
